t-Forms of the Akkadian Stative

چکیده

Abstract This article re-evaluates the status of Stative paradigm in Akkadian, language’s only exclusively suffixing paradigm, and argues favour a verbal classification on basis possible medialisation its attested forms. The denotes state persisting following perfective-associated event. Thereby, two kinds Statives are known: nominal Stative. While root is mapped onto Verbal Adjectival base template, uses either noun or an adjective’s stem as base. To respective bases both forms add same distinct set suffixes. Re-evaluating morphological make-up form well semantic connotation, this proposes new paradigmatic split between root-derived (verbal) stem-derived (nominal) adduces previously disregarded evidence for main argument interpretation.
